Nighttime Boating Basics

This course is designed to introduce recreational boaters to the essential skills and the awareness needed to navigate safely when boating after sunset or in restricted visibility. Whether you are a new boater learning the basics or an experienced crew member looking for a refresher, the course will help you comply with nighttime boating regulations and recognize the proper use of navigation lights on recreational vessels.

To support learning and retention, you will engage with video simulations, interactive quizzes, and practical scenarios. By the time you complete this course, you will be better prepared to operate your vessel at night and in restricted visibility—safely, legally, and with greater peace of mind.
